Allergens and food safety
One kitchen, one flat-top, one fryer. We'll tell you what goes into the food, but we can't promise that anything is free of any allergen.

How our kitchen works
Phantom Burger is one small kitchen. Burgers, cheesesteaks and melts are cooked on the same flat-top, and everything fried, from fries and onion rings to jalapeño poppers, goes into the same fryer oil. Sauces, cheeses and buns are prepped in the same space with the same hands and tools.
That means we cannot rule out cross-contact with wheat, milk, egg, soy, sesame, peanuts or tree nuts, and we don't describe any item as free of any allergen, even when it isn't a listed ingredient. We also handle fish: the Deadly Catch burger is a salmon patty.
Allergens by menu category
This table tells you which allergens to expect in each part of the menu, going by the ingredients listed on the menu. Cross-contact with any of the allergens listed above is possible in every category. It is a starting point, not a guarantee: recipes, brands and suppliers change. Confirm with the counter every time you order.
| Menu category | Expect, from the listed ingredients | Ask the counter about |
|---|---|---|
| Burgers | Wheat (buns, onion straws), milk (American, provolone, pepper jack, Swiss, blue cheese, cream cheese), egg (aioli and mayo-based sauces, the fried egg on Rest in Grease), fish (Deadly Catch salmon patty) | Sesame on buns; soy in sauces and cooking oil; what is in the sauce on your burger |
| Cheesesteaks | Wheat (rolls), milk (Cooper sharp, pepper jack, mozzarella, cheddar), egg (mayo, chipotle mayo) | Sesame on rolls; soy in sauces and cooking oil |
| Melts and more | Wheat (Texas toast, bread), milk (cheese, butter), egg (mayo) | Soy in the bread or spread |
| Sides | Wheat (onion ring batter). Fries and onion rings share the fryer oil with everything else we fry | Egg and milk in the chipotle sauce served with fries; what is in the seasoned fry rub |
| Drinks | Sealed bottles and cans. Read the label | Nothing from our kitchen goes into them |
How to tell us
Two places, every time:
- When you order: type the allergy into the special requests box on each item. It shows on the kitchen board with that item.
- When you collect: tell the counter, even if you already wrote it down.
If you have a severe allergy, ask us before you order. We'll tell you honestly whether we can make something safely, and sometimes the honest answer is no.
Food safety
- Everything is cooked to order. Nothing sits under a heat lamp.
- Food that isn't collected by closing time is thrown away, never kept for the next day.
- Take-out food is at its best straight away. If you're keeping some for later, refrigerate it promptly.
This isn't medical advice
Nothing on this site is medical advice. If you have a food allergy or intolerance, decisions about what is safe for you to eat are yours and your doctor's. We'll give you straight answers about what is in the food and how it is made so you can make them.
